Goodbye High School.... Hello College!
I know everyone is probably sick and tired of reading all of these "senioritis posts" lately, but I think I speak for all the seniors at Judge Memorial when I say, I cannot wait to leave! I don't mean to be rude but I just feel ready to take on more things and be given more responsibility. I am extremely sick of teachers telling me I can't chew gum, or that I need to tuck my shirt in, or that I have to wear black or white shoes, or that I can't go to my car without a "car pass"... the list could go on and on, anyway, I'm ready to fend for myself and not have other people take care of me like they do in high school. I am also more ready than ever to live on my own without my parents.
The seniors of 2010 are about to start an entirely new chapter in our lives. Of course I'm nervous and scared for what the future has to bring for me, but I feel like that is the best part of this new chapter.. not knowing what is coming. The new people, the intimidating professors, picking a major, graduate school are all parts of the journey that I am so excited for. I'm more ready to leave high school than ever! So, like my title says, goodbye Judge Memorial.... Hello college.

Collin, I really enjoyed
Collin,
I really enjoyed reading your post because know how you feel. As much as fun as my time at Judge was, I'm ready to go elsewhere. I absolutely agree with you when you mention responsibility. We're all 18 and 17, and quite frankly, I don't like being treated like a freshman; a 14 year old and an 18 year old are both on very different levels of maturity. I agree with you when you say "Of course I'm nervous and scared for what the future has to bring for me, but I feel like that is the best part of this new chapter.. not knowing what is coming." We all have distinct roads ahead of us, and we all have great places to be and great things to do.
Sincerely, Nyakuiy.
I agree. Just because we
I agree. Just because we have Senioritis doesnt mean that we are lazy or slacking off. We are just focused on moving on to college. I feel offended by the senioritis label because it is an insensitive accusation for seniors. We have spent three years giving our complete effort to high school classes. Now that we have something else that requires a lot of our attention, Judge collectively sees us as slackers. It reminds me of a jealous girlfriend. We have devoted our everything to this school, and now that we are starting to move on, the school generates a little bit of tension. The bottom line is, we have to prepare ourselves for college right now. And as long as everyone keeps putting out a full effort in life as a whole, their grades can't reflect senioritis. Trying hard doesn't always mean straight A's, it means doing the best you can in life. Life is more and more about college for the class of 2010.
Collin, Thanks for the
Collin,
Thanks for the post,
I liked the way you phrased the statement, "I don't mean to be rude but I just feel ready to take on more things and be given more responsibility." That really is how it is for most seniors. Like Michael said in his comment, we have put in our time and the effort at Judge for at least 12-15 quarters and we are ready to spread our wings and experience our lives. Judge is a school that prides itself on the types of students it produces and I feel that part of the reason Judge's students are so successful is because, of course, they do know how to work hard, and because they are always looking towards the future and becoming a part of something bigger than themselves. The only way for us to grow into good citizens of the world is for us to go out into the world and experience it. It is a new chapter in our lives and it shouldn't be something that we look to put off, yet something to embrace.
Great post,
Alex
