"The article “Google’s Do-It-Yourself App Creation Software” (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/12/technology/12google.html?_r=1&ref=technology ) caught my interest because it shows how much technology has truly grown in the past few decades. Before, something like the cell phone in the 1950’s seemed unfathomable. But now, many teenagers and adults own such. Not only are they able to communicate with their peers and family instantly, but they will soon be able to create applications that fit their needs. It’s awesome that Google is creating such a program because it allows their users to make something personal whereas, on the other hand, Apple users would have to download or buy the applications made by others for their own phone. I think that this new program will lead to many positive results, as people will let their creative minds develop and create useful and entertaining applications for their phone to better their lives. Users don’t have to rely on downloading someone’s application that isn’t satisfactory to their needs. Instead of waiting for a specific application to come out, they can simply create their own which fits their personal needs. With such an advanced phone along with potential applications being developed, the world will be able to stay more connected. I think it’s amazing how far we’ve gotten in the development of our technology and using it to better our social and work lives. I think that eventually, the cell phone will become one of the most powerful, convenient, and useful devices out there, possibly replacing desktop computers and other older devices." --ORIGINAL POST
