How am I doing?

As a photographer, I think I am doing well. I think I am exploring different kinds of elements of composition, and our new topic; lighting. As I take pictures, I don't really focus on anything, except what I feel would make the picture unique. As I work on editing the picture, I realize that the fact that I didn't really focus on anything made the picture contain even more lighting or anything I was trying to work on. Basically, I don't try to focus on anything, I just take a picture normally and see different element in the picture. In my community, there are tons of different objects to take pictures of. Since my topic is buildings and landscapes, and I live in New York City, there are more than enough things to capture in images.

Buildings and landscapes is a really good theme to have in the city!

Maybe since we are focusing on lighting now, you could take pictures around your community at different times of the day. You would have different lighting everytime.

I think you can start using lighting to help focus your audience members on a specific object.

I'm also exploring the theme with buildings, and I definitely agree with you when you say that lighting is almost essential when taking photographs. As a photographer that is also something that I am trying to work on. Good Luck!
