How does personality affect our health?
I'm learning more about personality now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: How personality related to people's health? As I was reading in my Google Reader, this blog post, "Your personality, your health", http://www.lamasbeauty.com/lifestyle/may02/Personality.htm, caught my attention because there was a recent research showed that personality can affect people's health. And there was a man called Hippocrates, was considered the father of Western Medicine. He discovered that people with certain personality traits were more susceptible to heart disease, respiratory disorders, and mental illness. The recent research confirmed what Hippocrates believed, and showed that personality is really related to people's health.
The quote I chose here is basically saying research today is confirming what Hippocrates believed, and is finding that personality can be linked to a variety of illnesses.
I think this is agreeable because Hippocrates' belief indicated the recently research is true. The research also said that people who become ill show very specific patterns of behavior associated with personality. It showed that personality is really related to our healths. The writer also mentioned that people who have suppressing emotions are toxic to the mind and body. For example anger, hate, and guilt. Also, people who always worrying and fretting is also not good for their health. Moreover, an negative perspective of life is also leading bad health. As I wonder, I think people should create a belief about themselves, make decisions for their reasons not others, and build positive perspective and hope. Also, they should add laughter to relax themselves daily. As what the writer said, it is good for our facial muscles and the attitude. Moreover, we should end the urgency addiction by doing the things that are important first. And do more things that can add joy to our lives. It helps to resist bad health by negative emotion and personality.
