How Were The Great Pyramids Built?
A question that always popped in my mind was “How the great pyramids were built?” To me, this work of art is unbelievable. How back then, they had the tools to even construct such structures like that. Comments I heard about it was that aliens built it, or slaves did. Before I even made research on it I always thought that these pyramids were built by slaves. Reason why I stated that was because, Egyptians were very rich, and very high-honored. I don't think that they would of had the time to built their own selves houses.
What I know is that, pyramids were made out of stone. So, I guess building pyramids back then was no joke. It was not like they had the machinery we have to today. They used hands, and man-made tools. That’s all they had, and also the brain. They figured way the structures would stay, and also sturdy.
The information my first source gave me was, obvious the base of the pyramid was an sqaure and its sides were triangular. A quote that supports my statement is: “….the Egyptians set the standard for what most people recognize as classic pyramid design: massive monuments with a square base and four smooth-sided triangular sides, rising to a point.” Another quote that supports my question “How the great pyramids were built?” is: “The cores of the pyramids were often composed of local limestone, said Redford. Finer quality limestone composed the outer layer of the pyramids, giving them a white sheen that could be seen from miles away.
The capstone was usually made of granite, basalt, or another very hard stone and could be plated with gold, silver or electrum, an alloy of gold and silver, and would also be highly reflective in the bright sun.” All this quote was is explaining are the components of the pyramid, and how they were made. For example they used granite, basalt, that was plated with gold or silver. So it would give off a nice shine, when in the sun’s sunlight.
My second source helped me answer my question by giving my clues on who actually built the pyramids. This quote explains who I also thought built the pyramids, “Rooted firmly in the popular imagination is the idea that the pyramids were built by slaves serving a merciless pharaoh. This notion of a vast slave class in Egypt originated in Judeo-Christian tradition and has been popularized...” But actually it was wrong who actually built the pyramids were actual pyramid builders. “He has found the city of the pyramid builders. They were not slaves.”
My third source helped me get closer to my answer by the saying of this quotes:“Jean Pierre Houdin believes the pyramids were built from the inside out, through an internal spiral ram.” "It's a plausible theory. Egyptologists agree it ought to be tested, and its nondestructive, so I wouldn't be surprised that within a year, we have the final answer," said Bob Brier, an Egyptologist at Long Island University, C.W. Post. The first quote is about how the archaeologist made an hypothesis, and I find that hypothesis to be very smart. It is like a spiral staircase, I would say.The Second quote is about that scientists, still have come to an conclusion how the great pyramids were built.
To come to my conclusion, I find the great pyramid to be very fascinating. I honestly think a person that can only tell us how the pyramids were built, is an person that actually was there that witnessed, or actually built the great structures itself. Scientists everyday are getting closer, to what of might actually the great pyramids were built.
