I hope Obama doesn't let us down
I feel hopeful because Obama winning the election is sign of change. In his debates he sounded convincing. He promised the middle - class a lot of change. I hope that Obama doesn't let us down. I depend on him to keep his word of providing young students, who are not fortunate enough to pay for their university; a chance to excel in one. I as a student , who has intentions of going to a university can not afford one. I feel hopeful that he will give me a chance to extend my knowledge in a learning environment. Prior to Barack Obama winning, I wanted Hilary to win, she came of as strong women and it just let's me know that a mixed man is preferred over a woman running the white house. This election has become a race issue. I feel that most people who voted for him was because of the color of skin but not based on what he would proved for our country. I was disappointed to find that some women do not support their own gender. I not being sexist but women have endured a lot through out centuries, we've been seen and treated as gum under a shoe. The one opportunity we had to show the world that women to are smart if not smarter then man and took it for granted. I feel that Hilary was more equip running the white house and it truly is a heartbreaking thought. Women will never succeed if we refuse to acknowledge that we too have a voice and are intelligent. I can help but be upset that women allow men to over power our life. I'm tried of men running my live I need a real change.

I also hope Obama doesn't let us down
Dear Dominique,
I really like your letter i think it was a very good response towards your feelings, it really spoke about how you felt when Barack Obama won. I agree with you when you stated "I hope that Obama doesn't let us down. I depend on him to keep his word of providing young students, who are not fortunate enough to pay for their university; a chance to excel in one" i thought that this quote was very meaningful, I also think that it says alot about Barack Obama and as you said hopefully he will provide us students with good qualitiesto reach our goals. I also agree with you when you say that hilary clinton should of been our leader I feel as if she was attacked alot by Barack Obama and he made hilary look a little lower than him. I love your writting I look foward to reading more of your writings.
I hope Obama actually makes
I hope Obama actually makes the U.S. a better place when he is president.
I'm sure Obama won't let us
I'm sure Obama won't let us down. He will be a great president, and I totaly believe in him!
Yups Me too
I am hopeful that Obama won the election as well. Obama will make a good president and I know it. I know he promised us people a lot of things and I think he should stick to the promise or people would be upset and angry about it. I know that he is not going to let us down and he is going to make a better president. I also depend on him to change the world and what the world is going to be like in a couple of years from now on. I hope he changes will help us and make sure that we are safe and everything. I am really happy that he won.

I am glad that you agree, but I don't think you are being honest with yourself. If you refuse to accept that this election did become a race issue then you must sit back and really analyze President Barack Obamas elections.
Let me give the most obivious example. If a president that was not barack obama promised the same exact things Obama did to America, but he was white would people of tooken a better notice? The answer is no. His heritage was what caught the eyes of alot african americans. I believe that alot of people heard what Obama had to say but focused more on his complexion.
Obama being half african caught the eyes of alot of the same group who could resemble with his race. I think that barack is a awesome person and in his debates talked about the issues that concerned me the most. But people let their pride get in the way of this election. I can't say I wouldn't of done the same thing if a hispanic had been elected as the president of the United States. Take it from a person who didn't focus on his race but more on what he promised his people.
There is prove that shows that alot more african, hispanic, asians voted in this election then in previous elections. I'm glad that Obama is president. He truly gives me hope, it is now up to him to prove himself and not let his people down.
Interesting points. I am
Interesting points. I am hopeful as well that Mr. Obama will be able to help the country get out of the rut that it is in. The President's job is a difficult one regardless of the economy being in shambles or an unpopular war taking lives of Americans everyday...the pressures are burdensome the opportunities for error are limitless and the effects of miscalculation effect us all. Already the president has seemed to keep his word and whether it was a uphill battle with him or Hilary the fact that both a women and black man were the democratic candidates speaks volumes for the progression we have made as a country.I understand your sentiments of oppression but as a country we seem to be making progress
I agree with you I also hope
I agree with you I also hope that Obama will make a difference in our country and for our benefits. How can we go to our disired university if we cant even afford it. Also woith the middle class families i hope he can help us, all. With the whole HIlary Clinton thing i think they were being a little sexiest but i dont hink a woman has the ability to change the econic crisis we're going threw. We need a strong president to help us bring our economy back to normal. I do hope that someday a woman president who rule our country.
Dear Dominique, I like your
Dear Dominique,
I like your post and I also hope that Obama won't let us down. I agree with you that "Obama winning the election is sign of change." As we still haven't come out of the depression completely, there are lots of changes that need the president to achieve.
Also, after winning Nobel Peace Prize, President Obama didn't have a large celebration, but instead claimed that there were still lots of things to be done. Therefore, I believe that he's eventually going to fulfill everything he promised during his campaign.
Yet, more and more people start to think it's just what he has said that sounds nice, but he actually hasn't done anything in action. Nevertheless, I still believe in him. After all this is one of the biggest depression in decades and we need to give him enough time and be more patient.
WOW. This post is really
WOW. This post is really old, but I'll respond anyway.
Dominique,
I have the exact same feelings towards Obama winning the election. I really wanted to Hilary Clinton to win. Reasons being that she was more experienced on and off the White House and she is a powerful figure in the women history. I couldn't believe that a majority of women did not vote for her as the democractic candidate. I kept thinking that Obama has won the viewers by the color of his skin and the tone of his voice. I hate how American society relies on charisma more than skill.
Recently I read an article in the Times Magazine saying exactly that, a politician's looks are important in America. I don't know how to react to this except, "this is so true!"
Now that Obama won, he BETTER live up to his promises.

Dear Torres,
I was completely baffled when I found out that the majority of the women did not vote for Hilary. Putting her sex aside, Hilary was the candidate with more experience then both Mc clain and Barack Obama. She is a strong women and I know she would of accomplished more then Barack Obama has at this current moment(which is abousolutely nothing). I've seen Obama in more T.V talk shows then I've seem him actually trying to get himself out there into the less fortunate communities.
I hope Obama won't
I hope Obama won't let us down too. The economy is getting better right now. However, a lot of people are saying that Obama is not doing his job or he is not a good president. I think he just need some time to bring up the economy. He is a good president, if he is not, why so many people vote for him? I think he will change the history.

Dear Dominique, I enjoyed
Dear Dominique,
I enjoyed your post " I hope Obama doesn't let us down" because a lot of what you said make total sense and I could say I agree with some of the things you said in your post. It was very down to earth and straight to it which is what this society needs because we tend to sugar coat things a lot to avoid reality.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: "This election has become a race issue. I feel that most people who voted for him was because of the color of skin but not based on what he would proved for our country." I think this is 100% true because a lot of people voted for him just because he was black, however I'm not trying to demean his votes either because a lot of people voted for him for other reasons as well, but I feel like him being an african-american had a big deal to do with why he got so many votes.
Another sentence you wrote that I was wondering about a little was "The one opportunity we had to show the world that women to are smart if not smarter then man and took it for granted." and then later on you said "I'm tried of men running my live I need a real change." Now I can understand that men are pretty much dominating in many areas in todays society such as business and etc. However, your saying that your tired of men "running" your life but you did have a chance as a gender and women failed to stand up and represent so at the same time I just thought that maybe you should also look at how the woman also didnt represent as much as you'd like them to.
I enjoyed your post because you had many interesting points and I look foward to reading your next post. Thankyou =]
