Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

The song Imagine, by John Lennon, speaks of aspects of both utopian and dystopian ideas. Lennon uses rhyme every couple of lines in the song and it emphasizes certain important words. This song is also full of imagery--heaven, hell, greed, hunger, and die being some of them. It is very easy to--no pun intended--imagine. The music in the background is repetitive and calm--there’s no hardcore solos, and is simple enough that the importance of the lyrics aren’t diminished. The lyrics too are calm and peaceful. There is no screaming, and the pace of the singing isn’t very fast, nor very slow. Lennon is asking people to imagine a world where everybody works together, where everybody can dream and there is no greed, hunger, killing, or dying--society is “perfect”.
