It seems that California has taken another big step in producing Medical Marijuana. According to CNN, a new medical marijuana "superstore" has opened up in Oakland California. The store is called "iGrow" and specializes in producing, and selling medical Marijuana and the supplies needed for one to grow their own Marijuana. The store is a 15,000 square foot warehouse, where one can find all the supplies needed to begin their own growth of Medical Marijuana (if they have a licence of course). iGrow also supplies medical marijuana, and even has a doctor on staff who can give physicals and examinations and is licenced to give out medical Marijuana ID cards. The store even has it's own team of specialists. Just like Best Buys "Geek Squad" iGrow has a team of specialists called the "Grow Squad" who are there to help answer any questions someone might have about growing Marijuana. The store even has classes the teach you how to grow your own marijuana. The stores owner Dhar Mann, a 24 year old entrepreneur says that this store is the first of it's kind in the ever growing business of medical Marijuana.

Dear Ross,

I was very interested in your post because it covers a major social issue that has a very strong political connotation.  It says a lot about the political climate in California when a Marijuana store actually opens up.  This is much bigger than a store-- it's representative of the liberalization of Americans and especially those on the west coast.  This opening is the start of a new age where people may no longer have to deal with sketchy drug dealers and where the state can collect tax money off of a drug in high demand.  Although marijuana is not considered a dangerous drug involving a dangerous following of people, many illegal dealers may be involved with more serious drug dealing that does attract a dangerous crowd.  The bottom line is that legalizing gateway drugs such as marijuana would cut down on the crime in America seriously.  If people dont have to break the law to do something relatively harmless, then they will do it peacefully.
I want to thank you for bringing light to such an issue.  Hopefully, our government will continue to, slowly but surely, realize the many benefits of legalizing this drug.  There would be less crime to fight, more money flow in the economy, more jobs, and a greater tax base.  How can that grow-- or go-- wrong?
