The Issues of the Economy and Health Care in the Presidential Election
Our world is going through many problems such as the economy dropping, immigration, health care, or abortion. Those things will definitely have a big change in the world in the near future. While some people many not care what is going on in the world and don't have a say in the election, some people do and some people actually care about the world and the effect it will have on all the other people who are living in this world besides them.
The first major issue was gas and the economy. how one day we may run out of gas and how we may have to find a new solution to gas and building the economy.
started construction on a new nuclear power plant in over 30 years. Currently, nuclear power provides 20 percent of our overall energy portfolio. Other countries such as China, India and Russia are looking to increase the role of nuclear power in their energy portfolio and the U.S. should not just look to maintain, but increase its own use. John McCain will put our country on track to construct 45 new nuclear power plants by 2030 with the ultimate goal of eventually constructing 100 new plants.
JohnMcCain.com - McCain-Palin 2008
if we were to start using the nuclear power plant idea we would need some way of building it.
It is also critical that the U.S. be able to build the components for these plants and reactors within our country so that we are not dependent on foreign suppliers with long wait times to move forward with our nuclear plans.
JohnMcCain.com - McCain-Palin 2008
with this new idea it could provide more jobs for more people which could also help our economy grow.
45 new nuclear power plants will create roughly 700,000 jobs - jobs in construction, engineering, operation and maintenance.

with all of the building we would need some way of getting money
John McCain will commit $2 billion annually to advancing clean coal technologies. Coal produces the majority of our electricity today. Some believe that marketing viable clean coal technologies could be over 15 years away. John McCain believes that this is too long to wait, and we need to commit significant federal resources to the science, research and development that advance this critical technology. Once commercialized, the U.S. can then export these technologies to countries like China that are committed to using their coal - creating new American jobs and allowing the U.S. to play a greater role in the international green economy.
JohnMcCain.com - McCain-Palin 2008
while we are creating power plants and expanding our use of gas why create more because then it would just cause more pollution
John McCain will commit our country to expanding domestic oil and natural gas exploration. The current federal moratorium on drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf stands in the way of energy exploration and production. John McCain believes it is time for the federal government to lift these restrictions and work with states to put our own reserves to use
JohnMcCain.com - McCain-Palin 2008
John McCain wants to keep all of our money and gas that we export instead of keeping it.
We have trillions of dollars worth of oil and gas reserves in the U.S. at a time we are exporting hundreds of billions of dollars a year overseas to buy energy. This is the largest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind. We should keep more of our dollars here in the U.S., lessen our foreign dependency, increase our domestic supplies, and reduce our trade deficit - 41 percent of which is due to oil imports.
JohnMcCain.com - McCain-Palin 2008
using electric mobil cars is a great option to restoring the amount of gas that we do use and also is great because it saves the air that we are polluting.
John McCain will propose a $300 million prize to improve battery technology for full commercial development of plug-in hybrid and fully electric automobiles. A $300 million prize should be awarded for the development of a battery package that has the size, capacity, cost and power to leapfrog the commercially available plug-in hybrids or electric cars. That battery should deliver a power source at 30 percent of the current costs. At $300 million, the prize is one dollar for every man, woman and child in this country - and a small price to pay for breaking our dependence on oil.
JohnMcCain.com - McCain-Palin 2008
this is a great way to promote more people to sell and buy fuel efficient cars
John McCain will issue a Clean Car Challenge to the automakers of America, in the form of a single and substantial tax credit based on the reduction of carbon emissions. For every automaker who can sell a zero-emissions car, John McCain will commit a $5,000 tax credit for each and every customer who buys that car. For other vehicles, whatever type they may be, the lower the carbon emissions, the higher the tax credit.

John McCain believes alcohol-based fuels hold great promise as both an alternative to gasoline and as a means of expanding consumers' choices. Some choices such as ethanol are on the market right now. The second generation of alcohol-based fuels like cellulosic ethanol, which won't compete with food crops, are showing great potential. Unfortunately, today isolationist tariffs and wasteful special interest subsidies are not moving us toward an energy solution. We need to level the playing field and eliminate mandates, subsidies, tariffs and price supports that focus exclusively on corn-based ethanol and prevent the development of market-based solutions which would provide us with better options for our fuel needs.

federal government is the largest electricity consumer on earth and occupies 3.3 billion square feet of space worldwide. It provides an enormous opportunity to lead by example. By applying a higher efficiency standard to new buildings leased or purchased and retrofitting existing buildings, we can save taxpayers money in energy costs, and move the construction market in the direction of green technology.
JohnMcCain.com - McCain-Palin 2008
Homeowners can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year with better light bulbs, appliances, windows, and insulation. As Americans retro-fit to improve energy efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint, jobs will flow to the U.S. providers of insulation, windows, appliances, and other sources of energy efficiency.

we are in such a big change and drop that we are loosing more and more money
Bush tax cuts give those who earn over $1 million dollars a tax cut nearly 160 times greater than that received by middle-income Americans. At the same time, this administration has refused to tackle health care, education and housing in a manner that benefits the middle class.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden: The Change We Need | Economy
this is an excellent idea because many people in the economy are unable to bay their bill which are hurting other people and us. if we could help them to at least get started we will have a less chance of having a major drop in the economy.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden will enact a windfall profits tax on excessive oil company profits to give American families an immediate $1,000 emergency energy rebate to help families pay rising bills. This relief would be a down payment on the Obama-Biden long-term plan to provide middle-class families with at least $1,000 per year in permanent tax relief.

simplifying taxes is a good thing because it makes paying taxes a lot more easy and efficient.
Obama and Biden will dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes. Obama and Biden will ensure that the IRS uses the information it already gets from banks and employers to give taxpayers the option of pre-filled tax forms to verify, sign and return. Experts estimate that the Obama-Biden proposal will save Americans up to 200 million total hours of work and aggravation and up to $2 billion in tax preparer fees.

Opening up foreign trade will help by getting more resources and more goods.
Obama and Biden will fight for a trade policy that opens up foreign markets to support good American jobs. They will use trade agreements to spread good labor and environmental standards around the world and stand firm against agreements like the Central American Free Trade Agreement that fail to live up to those important benchmarks. Obama and Biden will also pressure the World Trade Organization to enforce trade agreements and stop countries from continuing unfair government subsidies to foreign exporters and nontariff barriers on U.S. exports.

Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) works with manufacturers across the country to improve efficiency, implement new technology and strengthen company growth. This highly-successful program has engaged in more than 350,000 projects across the country and in 2006 alone, helped create and protect over 50,000 jobs. But despite this success, funding for MEP has been slashed by the Bush administration. Barack Obama and Joe Biden will double funding for the MEP so its training centers can continue to bolster the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturers.

McCain believes in free trade. We have the most productive workforce in the world and can compete effectively in many different industries. Where we have an advantage, we should trade; what others produce better, we should import. Obama's more unilateralist view assumes, rather insultingly, that American workers need protection from foreign competition.
McCain or Obama: Who's best for the economy? - Los Angeles Times
McCain believes we shouldn't raise taxes. Indeed, we should reduce them where it would benefit our growing economy the most. Obama's views, by contrast, have been evolving. At one time, he proposed a dramatic increase in payroll taxes. Then he scaled back his payroll tax hike. Then it was scaled back and delayed until sometime in the next decade.
McCain or Obama: Who's best for the economy? - Los Angeles Times
Obama has proposed modest tax cuts for the middle class and a significant increase in the top income tax rates to satisfy his demands for greater wealth redistribution. The proposed cuts are welcome, but they're a type that provides no benefit for the economy. More recently, Obama has said that his tax hikes may need to be postponed if the economy remains weak. This is progress, though, because it means Obama is acknowledging that higher marginal tax rates harm the economy. Admitting as much would complete his migration to McCain's position.
McCain or Obama: Who's best for the economy? - Los Angeles Times
Obama's plans put more emphasis on greater government control; McCain's puts emphasis on economic growth. Therein lies the choice.
McCain or Obama: Who's best for the economy? - Los Angeles Times
while some people have published ideas about who and what they want, there doesnt seem to be a certain side in which people are going to. it is almost even.
some people think that McCain is fit for this part while other people think the opposite.
Lower individual taxes, lower corporate/business taxes, investment in technology, a real energy plan, free trade, a limited budget to reduce the deficit (lower spending/no earmarks), and appropriate oversight/regulation (no more handouts) -- McCain, with a real record of reform, by a mile. some people think that Obama is the choice to go with. with all of the decisions and ideas he has brought up so far, he seems like he should be the one.
Obama on the other hand has made a deliberate, eyes-open analysis, and responded to these crises with a two-minute ad laying out his position and approach to solutions.
while there doesnt seem to be a certain decision on who should be president and which one is doing better for the economy, there is something that they have in common. there needs to be a change for the better sometime soon because the longer that we wait and hope for someone to make a change, the harder it will be to get out of the hole that we are creating in our economy.
Even though the economy is a huge thing right now, there are several other things that are just as big. one of these includes health care. everyone needs it but not everyone has it.
making more affordable health care will help everyone afford and have it.
he Obama-Biden plan provides affordable, accessible health care for all Americans, builds on the existing health care system, and uses existing providers, doctors and plans to implement the plan. Under the Obama-Biden plan, patients will be able to make health care decisions with their doctors, instead of being blocked by insurance company bureaucrats.

# Lower drug costs by allowing the importation of safe medicines from other developed countries, increasing the use of generic drugs in public programs and taking on drug companies that block cheaper generic medicines from the market # Require hospitals to collect and report health care cost and quality data # Reduce the costs of catastrophic illnesses for employers and their employees. # Reform the insurance market to increase competition by taking on anticompetitive activity that drives up prices without improving quality of care.

the health care includes many of the issues that many people face today.
require coverage of preventive services, including cancer screenings, and increase state and local preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

while we are paying for health care so will Obama which will also help out the economy.
Obama will pay for his $50 - $65 billion health care reform effort by rolling back the Bush tax cuts for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year and retaining the estate tax at its 2009 level.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden: The Change We Need | Health Care
For just McCain he has similar ideas.
system of health care in which everyone can afford and acquire the treatment and preventative care they need. Health care should be available to all and not limited by where you work or how much you make. Families should be in charge of their health care dollars and have more control over care.
John McCain will work with governors to develop a best practice model that states can follow - a Guaranteed Access Plan or GAP - that would reflect the best experience of the states to ensure these patients have access to health coverage. One approach would establish a nonprofit corporation that would contract with insurers to cover patients who have been denied insurance and could join with other state plans to enlarge pools and lower overhead costs. There would be reasonable limits on premiums, and assistance would be available for Americans below a certain income level.

while John McCain and Barack Obama have the same idea to help with health care it not more the issue if whoever becomes president can handle it.
while the choice on what to do with the health care is very important and could determine whether they get the votes or not, it is also very important in what they believe and do about it.
candidates' views on health care reform will be very important or somewhat important in their voting decision.
The Public's Views on Health Care Reform in the 2008 Presidential Election
majority of adults would also favor a requirement that everyone have health insurance, with the government helping those who are unable to afford it; support for such a requirement, however, is not strong and varies by political affiliation, geographic region, and income. There is overwhelming agreement that financing for health insurance coverage for all Americans should be a responsibility shared by employers, government, and individuals.
The Public's Views on Health Care Reform in the 2008 Presidential Election
many people believe that good health care has to be good, affordable, and located near them. this could be a really huge thing in both votes and for the people of the United States.
