Janie tries to find happiness with Tea Cake, Chapters 13, 14, and 15 in Their Eyes Were Watching God

Janie is trying to find happiness in her own little world that she is trying to create and she is doing everything as she wishes.I’m asking myself is tea cake really the one for her? is Janie scared of him? there are twos ides of each story and this book “ their eyes were watching god “ has to sides as well.

After reading Chapter 13 in Their Eyes Were Watching God, I'm thinking that Teacake doesn’t look like the right person for Janie. Now that she has a job and a house and money on her side, it seems like Tea Cake is willing to take advantage of that. Janie is old and Tea Cake is young man, and from my point of view all he wants is her money. Janie got stuck with the wrong guy again. On page 147 there was a part where Janie was trying to control Teacake or give Teacake another chance for his mistake and she responded is kiss-up way.

“Looka heah, Tea Cake, if you ever go off from me and have a good time lak dat and them come back heah telling me how nice Ah is, Ah specks tuh kill yuh dead. you heah me?"
"So you aims tuh partake wid everything, hunh?"
"Yeah, Tea Cake, don't keer what it is."
"Dats all Ah wants tuh know. From now on you'se mah wife and mah women and everything  else in de world Ah needs."
"I hope so."
"And honey, dont you worry bout yo’ lil ole two hundred dollars....”

After reading this short part of the passage i began to realise the way Tea Cake is talking to Janie that nothing ever happened. Like he never took the money she had in her cloths. I think that Janie is understanding what is going on but she is too scared to face the consequences which will lead them to a break - up. This just shows that they don’t have trust in their relationship.

Hurston is basically trying to show that Janie is blindfolded by this guy teacake and his sweet talk. I really doubt that their relationship will get any better because the way Tea Cake is talking is nothing but full of crap and lies. He just seems like those little gold diggers. Janie needs to open her eyes for actual true love. All Janie thinks is that Teacake is just running off because he likes having fun outside and not with her. Well the truth is that he is just there because he just wants her money.
   
Chapter 14 showed changes in Janie character. She starts wearing jeans and guy stuff, and learns how to shoot a gun thanks to Tea Cake. In page 153 Tea cake is making Janie learn how to shoot

“Oh you needs tuh learn how.taint no need uh you not knowin how tuh handle shootin tools.even if you didnt never find no game. its always some trashy rascal dat needs uh good killin,” he laughed “ less go intuh palm beach and spend some of our money. Every day they were practicing. Tea Cake made her shoot a little things to give her good aim and shot  gun and rifle.”

This shows how Tea Cake wants Janie to be similar as him. Maybe he is actually liking Janie or wants her to more conscious about the real world. Janie and Tea Cake are trying to make their own little world to be filled with happiness in Everglades. Tea Cake is Liking Janie a lot because you could tell how he cuts work just to go see her. It sounds like true love. Janie then starts working with him to be with him all day long and start changing her clothing and wears overalls. This is a big change for Janie.

During chapter 15 there is a part where Janie is working with Tea Cake and there’s this foolish girl that always touches Tea Cake, At first it didn't bother Janie as much but as there relationship grew her jealousy grew as well. Part of the passage when Tea Cake and Nunkie disappeared Janie went running looking for them and later finds them on the floor wrestling, Janie didn't know what to do so she started beating him.

At the end of chapter 15 you realise that they are in serious love. It showed that Janie got jealous of Nunki and Tea cake. she tries fighting with him but it just turned to making love because they love each other. Well Janie does, I don’t know for sure that if Tea Cake flirts with Nunki back. What ever it is, Janie is happy.
