Their Eyes Are Watching God is preoccupied with Janie’s transition to realizing what she truly wants. Most people would agree with me, because she has already married three times, and yet she never seems satisfied with whatever she has. This is still a very serious issue in our society now, but the way it is dealt with is with releasing some “sexual tension.” Janie follows this very same...”method” on pg. 160, the final paragraph.

They fought on. “You done hurt mah heart, now you come wid uh lie tuh bruise mah ears! Turn go mah hands!” Janie seethed. But Tea Cake never let go. They wrestled on until they were doped on their own fumes and emanations; till their clothes had been torn away: till he hurled her to the floor and held her there melting her resistance with the heat of his body, doing things with their bodies to express the inexpressible”

Given, the “expression” Zora Neale Hurston is talking about is sexual intercourse. A very fun physical activity (from what I heard of course!) And what I believe Zora Hurston is conveying in this is that EVERYONE needs to release tension every once in a while. And most people would agree with me. It is not good to pent up all that stress on yourself, so it is best to release it somehow. Janie just found the fun way to!
