Japan Disaster
At first I thought that The Japan earthquake was a mind bugling 8.9* on the righter scale disaster. I didn’t think such a huge earthquake would hit a country but thank god it was Japan who is always ready for earthquakes because they often have earthquakes there and not another underdeveloped country because they would have been utterly destroyed, but even so not even Japan was prepared for a earthquake of this magnitude. There was even a Tsunami that ravaged Japan due to the severity of the earthquake and I also heard nuclear reactors on the coasts have been damaged they're cooling system and which causes the nuclear reactors to overheat and explode, they haven't exploded yet but they are heating really bad and leaking radiation and even cities have been evacuated. There have been 10,000 casualties so far. I wonder if any aid was sent to Japan or are they good enough to be able to repair all the damage by themselves since they’re a powerful country. I once experienced a 6*. something earthquake when I was younger and it was awful , I tought the building was going to collapse but I can’t even imagine how a 8.9 earthquake must be like and I even heard the aftershocks were 6 degrees themselves, and they were over 50. No wonder they asked everyone to stay in they’re schools , homes , or offices and not move. It must be horribly frightening and dangerous. I wonder how bad it’s economy has suffered also.
I just read a Wikipedia article “ 2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami”, Wikipedia: The free Encyclopedia. Sunday , March 13, 2011, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Sendai_earthquake_and_tsunami. I was shocked at the severity of disaster Japan went through and how much people there have suffered.
One sentence from this article that stands out for me is “ According to Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the earthquake’s enormous strength shifted the Earth’s axis by 25 centimeters(9.8 in). This deviation led a number of small changes, including those to the length of a day and tilt of the Earth. The speed of the Earth’s rotation increased, shortening the day by 1.8 microseconds due to the redistribution of Earth's mass. I think this is really unbelievable , how can a earthquake shift the earth’s axis its not like a freaking planet hit it to shift the axis or something this must have been a really crazy earthquake.
I’m pretty sure this is accurate, because this is modified by people everyday and validated from news reports.
What I learned from this article is that you may think that you are safe but you’re actually never safe no matter how hard you try there is always going to be something that can just destroy you or a rare incident occurring, we have yet to learn about the world around us and we can never be really absolutely safe until we know everything about everything and that’s really almost impossible.
Looking on a video on CNN called “Man bikes around Japan looking for his wife” when a man searches for his wife around Japan because he cant find her after the Tsunami.
“There are many families like this destroyed”
Hearing this quote just made me realize that many families have suffered from this disaster and crippled whole villages and how many thousands of families have suffered over this.
I really hope Japan doesn't get destroyed we all love Japan and I don't want to see it go down like this just because of a unfortunate event.
Another resource that I looked at , “Fukushima 1 nuclear accidents http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukushima_I_nuclear_accidents” there was this one statement that made me not my head in agreement with the reporter. It was “Several events occurred during the following days: there was evidence of partial nuclear meltdowns in reactors 1, 2 and 3; hydrogen explosions destroyed the upper cladding of the buildings housing reactors 1, 3 and 4; an explosion damaged reactor 2's containment; and fires at reactor 4. Radiation leaks led to a 20 kilometers (12 mi)-radius evacuation around the plant. On 16 March TEPCO employees and workers from other companies not in charge of injection work started tentative evacuation to a safe location. “ This is really frightening if the reactors explode will all of Japan have to be evacuated? and will the explosions be as same as like a nuclear bomb just dropped there? This is terrible news for Japan.
All of this makes me think that Japan is only going to go down from now on and I don't think they will recover from all this damage so soon, which is very sad.
This photo shows an example of the worst case scenario for Japan.

I liked your essay because
I liked your essay because it was an imformational essay with a lot of your own emotions too. Even though you have experienced an earthquake, I never have to this day, although I was born in Japan and I go there every year. I guess it's just luck that I never did. They seem scary.
One sentence that stood out to me is that "once experienced a 6 point something earthquake..." Using my prior knowledge, a 6 on the richter scale is already enough to be called a major earthquake. So that must be scary.
Another sentence that I was interested by was: "The speed of the Earth’s rotation increased, shortening the day by 1.8 microseconds..." I've heard of earthquakes that have shortened the earth's day, and this was another one of these.
I agree with you on the sentence, "I think this is really unbelievable , how can a earthquake shift the earth’s axis..." Earthquakes that shorten an Earth day is unbelievable, although we don't really notice. Another reason I agree with you on is "I really hope Japan doesn't get destroyed, we all love Japan..." This is because Japan is an awesome country.
Thanks for writing. I look forward to seeing what you write about next, because this was an interesting essay. You experiencing a 6 earthquake makes it even more interesting. And best of all, your comments were the most interesting.
Dear Raul I didn't really
Dear Raul
I didn't really read your article, but I'm replying because of classwork. I've got this article from Mr.Allison called "Longing for her mother / 4-yr-old girl pens heartbreaking letter to missing parent" I find this article very sad even as we become older we need a mother. This 4 years old girl cannot find her mother. I feel bad after reading this story. After a child cannot find her mother.
On the afternoon of March 22, Manami announced she would write a letter to her mother. She opened her notebook on a kotatsu, took up a color pencil and began writing in the hiragana characters she had just learned in school.
