La llorona, real or not?

After my research I still dont know if to believe or not in this famous "llorona".  Based on some articles i read the only lloronas reported by newspapers and such have been real women with real identity's who have killed their children or murdered someone else.  Only people that are not given much attention by the media have reported encountouring this spirit.  Half of me does not believe in la llorona, but since i do believe in spirits and souls half of me does.  I do believe that people have contacted the dead, and many people believe in la llorona.  You can't really rely on people that have encountered them because

1) they died

2) they were drunk -_-.(but they do say drunk men are honest lol)

And that concludes my research.
