Looking At Nature: Simplicity

Discussion
Nov 30, 2009

I am exploring nature in our everyday lives. I am interested in this because I believe that it is a very simple, beautiful topic to explore into more depth.

In this photograph, you can see the very simple pink-orange color of the sunset and how the light of it changes and makes the color of the ocean. I know that sunsets like this one happen everyday but I believe this one is somewhat special. My interpretation of this photograph is that the color change of the sky, the ocean and even the sand makes this picture more calming and appealing to the eye.

It has been said that one image is worth a thousand words. This could be true about this photograph because it expresses the simplicity and natural beauty of this sunset that many people just pass by because it is an everyday sight. It reflects my theme in the idea that it makes a normally simple picture catch the eye of many for the better; to be appreciated for the beauty of nature.

One thing that I know about nature is that its not just there to be ignored but to show people and make them appreciative of the things that we can't create ourselves. One thing that I wonder about nature is the idea that something so simple and pretty can just be looked over because its a daily sight. This makes me think of ways to capture the best moments in nature so people can once again admire the topic as a whole.

The second image was created by braydenmartinez and I found it on Flickr.
In this image, I see this one lonely, yet very beautiful flower that has an unusually complex structure. I know that this picture was probably taken somewhere in which there were many flowers similar to it but not necesarrily in a popular location because I've never seen a flower like this before. My interpretation of this image is that the person taking this picture realized the beautiful simplicity of this one flower with its structure and they believed it would make a very not only striking but please-able photograph.

The second image relates to my photograph because I think it stands out more than the usual picture. As I look at this and other images, my next image will not only hope to portray the simplicity of nature out in the world but also the slightly complex aspects of it to present a more striking picture, like this one, in the future. If I were to look up some information about my theme/topic, I would like to know more about pictures of nature out in the world that look simple but have a greater complexity to them in order to make my photographs very appealing to the eye.

Since you are reading this post, I would like to ask you if you think there is anything in nature to take a picture of to have a simple meaning but hide a more complex one that would be solvable by just looking at the picture more than normal .
