Recently I read  pages 78-96 in Almost A Woman, by Esmeralda Santiago, and I enjoyed it because in the story she is getting more freedom. The story makes me really think about me and how there are some things that I can relate to. As I keep on reading I find new stuff every time.

One line from this part of the book that stands out for me is: "I had stopped being a little girl because Mami wouldn't be outmothered by Provi" I think this is exciting for her because her mother is finally letting her have more freedom. She got to wear make up and look more like the way she wanted to.

Another line that I liked  was: "In my secret life I wasn't Esmeralda Santiago, not Negi, not a scared Puerto Rican girl, but a confident, powerful woman whose changed as I tried to form the perfect me." This stood out for me because she describes her herself different. She has a secret life which means she keeps things to herself and in side she is some one different no the one that people want her to be.

This section of Amost A Woman reminds me of a movie. In  "Freedom Writers" there is different teenagers that act a certain way but inside they are different people. It's a movie that was created by the journals that each of these students wrote and each one of them have a different story. Each one of them really showed there inside in the journals.

What's probably going to happen next is that she is going to want more freedom. Also I think that she is going to want a boyfriend since she's growing up.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book because it's really going good. I want to find out more stuff and see what more happens to her.
