Mother Passes Away

Their mother passes away at the end of the book and her spirits are chanted and lifted to a safe passage. People were crying and they never got to see their mother again and Emily just cried and cried everyday wanting her mother back. Emily would remember everything her mother done for her and how she took care of her. They had a huge cermony and her mother lived in peace.

I am liking Hunger, by Lan Samantha Chang because people are learning new things and that is a really good thing that they are learning new things in life. It is also really sad that the mother just passed away and it is really sad that that happened and they hope that her spirits are kept safely. An example of what I mean is on page 154.  "When our mothers spirits had been chanted to a safe passage and her body creamated." I think this is upsetting because because the mother had passed away and they dont get to see her mom anymore and stuff and it is just really sad.

One of the big ideas or themes in this book is worship. You can see this on page 154 where it says: "We sat at the temple worshiping our mothers death." As you can see Chang wants us to think about how people worship their family and show how much they care and stuff.

This theme in Hunger reminds me of something important in my life. For me when someone passes away in my family I am going to be really sad and stuff and it is going to hurt because I lost something important in my life. When a family member passes away, I cry and I go visit their grave and say prayers for them to live in peace.
