MTA Fare Hike

“The fare for subways and buses could rise to $2.50 under the 'doomsday budget’… As exclusively reported in the Daily News over the past two weeks, service cuts spelling longer waits for more crowded trains and buses - and fewer token booth clerks and customer service agents in stations - will begin in the spring, officials said.” (Daily News)

This is ridiculous that’s means I’m going to spend $5 every time I want to leave my house. Everyone’s going to need to buy unlimited monthly metro cards since they will come out to be so much cheaper. It’s not like having a car is any cheaper because gas prices went up as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eliminate student metro cards. Personally I think that student metro cards should work 24/7 because a lot of the time I do student related things like go to a library, Barnes & Nobles or something and I have to pay to get there. Especially at my school we have personal projects in the 10th grade and a lot of people went to libraries in Manhattan but had to pay to get there. If fare hikes keep going up people are just going to start car pooling and riding bikes. With the fare hikes you would expect trains to be kept much cleaner but it’s the opposite. Trains are really dirty and unless it’s a big train station such as Roosevelt 74th Street or 71st and Continental you don’t find token booth clerks.

They cant keep doing this too us. $5 just to take two bus's thats crays. myself takes atleast 5 to 6 bus's a day so ima be spending at least 10 to 15 dollers. All on transpertation? and that dont include addmishion for w.e im doin that day. These people are tryin to burn holes in our pockets. And what if people are having truble in the train stations? who are they to turn to if theres no one down there? Most crimes happin underground at train stations? Whas going on with the world now ima have to go out and buy a bran new bike just to get around this summer. I already got two jobs and one partime and i still dont got enugh money to buy everyday items and do everyday things. This is just two crazy.
