Music on Wikipedia

I just read a Wikipedia article, "Music Therapy," Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia. 18 May 2009, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music. I was interested by this article because it shows how music can help people in many ways. It  can make many different problems that people have go away or get better..

 

One sentence from this article that stands out for me is: "Music has long been used to help people deal with their emotions." I think this is intersting because it shows that music has been used to make people happy or sad when they arent for a long time. it is nothing new.

 

I'm pretty sure this is accurate, because i know that music has been around for hundreds of years and Bethoven and Mozart used music to make people happy or sad depending on the situation.

 

Another sentence that I liked was: "In the Ottoman Empire, mental illnesses were treated with music" This stood out for me because we just learned about the Ottomans and it also seems possible since music can make depresses people happy.

 

 

What I learned from this article is that music has been used for hundreds of years to help people and I will look to see how this article changes in the future because i think that music can really change peoples lives.
