My Cost of Life experience.

Not all games are the same. Some are Pokemon, Monopoly, Life, and online games, played for entertainment, knowledge, or just a way to pass the time. Others seem to be designed to intrigue your interest, and get you addicted to it. That’s how they get their money. Whatever the game is, the goals always tend to be the same. The main goals all games share is to complete it, while staying alive. I personally tend to enjoy games that are more about taking care of things, like having many levels to accomplish.

I am not addicted to any games. I do have games that constantly need attention, such as an app on my phone. If you don’t water or give sun to your planet, it dies. Most of the games that I play are actually on my phone. I don’t play computer games, mostly because my charger doesn’t work, and board games are more for two people, while I’m usually in my room alone since everyone is busy.

Recently, I’ve been spending some time playing the game called “Cost of Life”. This is a game in which you have to keep all 5 of the family members alive, and try to keep them healthy, while putting them to work, and finding a way to give them an education. The goal of this game is to keep them all alive for the full four years, have diplomas, keep them happy, and end the game with good health, and money. This is a goal easier said then done. During the game, the family members tend to get sick, and if you don’t treat them, the die. They get sick often and extremely easily. The money is spent quickly. Sometimes if your crops don’t do well, you lose money. If you go to school or the doctor/hospital, the money is spent even faster. Happiness to me, was the easiest to maintain. Your lucky to end the game with all four elements. Money, health, education, and happiness.

R.I.P Patrick and Yves. You guys almost survived........ almost... :o

The first time I played the game, I thought it was a nice change, and interesting. I liked how we didn’t have to do much work, other then keeping the people alive and having money. I was wrong. There is a lot more things involved

There are times that you want to quit playing this game. It gets boring after a while, and you just get tired of doing the same thing over and over again. You have to keep finding out ways on how to get more money, because with no money there is no food, and no food means more illnesses which leads to death. If both parents die, the game is automatically over. But you keep going, because you want to accomplish and finish the hard game, and determination keeps you going. The main problem I had, was trying to keep them healthy. Just like the app on my phone about taking care of the planet, if you don’t give it the attention it needs, it dies. A strategies I used was not sending them to school, and only buying books. You save a bunch of money, and still get education. I am aware that I could have gotten a better ending score in my game, but I honestly got tired of playing it, and since I was already done, I just stayed with the score I had.

I like your essay, "My Cost of Life Experience", because when i played the game i felt the same way you did. Like you i also play games that take care of things on my phone, i take care of frogs :).

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is "I Was Wrong. There is alot more things involved." Because i thought  the same thing too at first. Then i came to the realization that it wasn't like that at all.

I agree with you that determination keeps you going, because wanting to win the game is the main goal. Another re4ason i agree is because it keeps you motivated your desire to win.

Thanks for writing, i look forward to seeing you write next, because i found alot of things in common.

I am not addicted to games

I am not addicted to games either. I disagree with you when you said the game was interesting. The game seemed boring when I started playing it. Although you said that, I agree with you when you say it gets boring. The game isn't hard, but it is hard to get the new house in the store. I don't know what was the point of adding that in if it's almost impossible to get it.
