My personal views concerning the moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico...

I totally disagree with implementing a  halt on drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. I understand our environment was almost totally destroyed by this disaster, but peoples' lives will be insurmountably destroyed if they are unable to support their families. Passing a moratorium in the Gulf will definitely put our economy in a deeper whole. It will cause thousands of  workers along the Gulf to lose their jobs. Now, as an African American the oilfield industry was always biased towards my culture. They hired every race to work in that industry, but black men was always under paid for the same job white men were getting paid for. Even though the oilfield industry showed their prejudices by attempting to  keep African Americans  poor, it still offered many families a chance to have a meal on their table every night. I love my state, my culture, and our traditions.
