Nature vs. Nurture

One of the most interesting facts I have learned from research has to do with the “Nature vs. Nurture” dispute.  Researchers have tested this many times often finding that nature has a greater influence than nurture.  This theory goes against the thoughts of behavioral psychology, the predominant way to study psychology in the past century.  When sets of twins that were separated at birth were studied, it was found that they were very similar even though they grew up in different environments.  This could only mean one thing, that their personalities were genetically similar.  The twins often chose similar career paths, similar places to live, and liked similar types of food.  These similarities point to the dominant role genetics play in personal development. This is one of the most interesting facts I have learned through research.

Could it be that Nurture complements Nature and that Nature's gift
of rich Human Potential is realized through socialization and education?

Very interesting, but adoption studies indicate that, by adulthood, adoptive siblings are no more similar in IQ than strangers , Twin studies reinforce this pattern (identical) twins raised separately are highly similar in IQ , more so than fraternal twins raised together and much more than adoptive siblings. This has a lot to do with what you were talking about.
