New Year's Resolutions
Why do poeple make New years Resolutions? I mean seriously 9 out of 10 times you won't even follow your resolution into the new year. Plus, what is all the hype about? I mean seriously why does it take the end of one year to come around for you to realize that you need to change some things about yourself? I'm not trying to be a sourpuss but this tradition makes no sense to me. Think about it you know what your doing wrong and in order to change it you must feel the need to change it. I do not believe that the year is ending so you all of a sudden need to change things. I mean I believe in changing yourself for the better and I do know that towards the end of a year you look back and see all the good and bad that the year brought but to make a resolution is such a waste. The whole point of changing yourself is to do it; you can say whatever you want that does not mean you will follow through with it. At one point I made a resolution every year but eventually they became irrelevant and I guess I have completely lost belief in them. Is this not a part of life though you believe things and then you don't?! I think when you can tell it is a belief and thus a tradition is when you stop believing/carrying it out but find yourself believing again. It then becomes apart of your path in life!

Hype
Dear Misty,
I really liked your post because it's the truth!! People always make new years resolution and fail to come threw to them.
One sentence you wrote that stands out to me is "what is all the hype about? I mean seriously why does it take the end of one year to come around for you to realize that you need to change some things about yourself?" Because what is the hype all about another year the same shit that is if you want to become a better person, but the sad truth is sometimes it do take people as a year to turn around and change.
Another sentence that stands out for me is" At one point I made a resolution every year but eventually they became irrelevant and I guess I have completely lost belief in them. Is this not a part of life though you believe things and then you don't?!" Because I use to do the same thing.. But now i found that you only can change if you truly want to. You don't need a new year to say you want to do so take a new year, an change your bad habbits, but don't try and change yourself try to better your self.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what your write next because this post was the truth.

Dear Chante,
Thanks for your comment!I agree with your statement "... but the sad truth is sometimes it do take people as a year to turn around and change" because what your saying is completely true and just goes to show some people just come to the realization late. But it is not this that is weird to me it is that they claim it is because of a new years resolution instead of just saying they needed to change to make a better person of themselves.
You later stated "don't try and change yourself try to better your self"; I completely agree with this statement because people are who they are and that's what makes them different from others.I look forward to reading more of your posts because it is nice to know that I'm not the only one sharing this belief.
Cool response!
Hey, Misty. I found it pretty interesting that you were blogging about new year's resolutions because my advisory in school is actually doing this sort of project where each student has to make his/her own new year resolution. Then every month we have to keep youthvoices updated on how we have been doing on completing our new year's resolution. We had this same argument that you had on why it has to be the new year to make a change in your lifestyle. But I think that it's often hard for people to just get up and make a change in their life, it's a hard thing to do, and a lot of people aren't strong enough or have enough willpower. That's why new years gives people an excuse to make a change, it really helps people out. I guess the new year is so exciting because it's so promising. There are 364 days left in the year, and who knows what these days will hold for you?!
I agree with you when you said that a lot of the times people don't stick to their resolutions. That is so true, unfortuneatly. My new years resolution this year has been the same as all the last years which is to do better in school. I consider myself a good student in most of my classes (except math!) and I don't really push myself to follow through with my resolution. I guess what I could do would be to get a tutor, plan out my time more efficiently, oh I don't know. But that's why that school project will be good for me. Maybe if more people keep track of their progress on achieving their resolution, their resolution would be more meaningful!
When it comes to goals that
When it comes to goals that you set for yourself I have found that to often people make excuses or doubt themselves. Its never that you can't do it.Its that you are telling yourself that you can't.Forget a New Years Resolution because if its something you really want to do. Its not about the time day or even year you make it but the distance you are willing to go to change the things you are or have been doing. Often times people say they want to set a goal and keep it but through doing all the same things nothing will change itself. You must first put time and effort before you see results. A wise man once said "to do the same thing and expect change is the definition of insanity"!
Nice Post
Dear Misty,
I really enjoyed your post “New Years Resolution”. I agree with your opinion, we all say we are going to lose 5 pounds, eat healthier, etc. But unfortunately some of us do not even commit to it.
New Years Resolution will actually work only if we commit to it. One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “Why do people make New years Resolutions? I mean seriously 9 out of 10 times you won't even follow your resolution into the new year.” It stands out for me because, it happens to me many times. I am a forgetful person, on News Years Eve I say I will try to save up as much money I can. But then not even half into the year, I'm spending all my allowance. I really enjoyed this post because I can connect to it. Will you write more posts on subjects like these or not?
Thank you for your post. I look forward to seeing your other writings. Your writing is very detailed which I can picture in my head. Thanks for you post.
