Nigga vs Faggot

http://www.youthvoices.net/node/11969 and http://www.youthvoices.net/node/15446. This group is about tolerance and accepting difference and both of these discussions are very similar in this way. What is behind words? Is it the meaning of the word or the emotion in it? I agree that words are merely sounds and if they have no meaning to insult or harm then they become nothing more then that. What causes people to be so upset by words is because of the negative condonsation behind them.
"History is taught so people know what happened in the past. So take the knowledge of the past (both negative and positive achievements) and make something new out of them to have a better future. If you stay stuck in the past, you will have no future." This quote is very powerful I believe. Why not try to make negatives positive? Just because something was negative at one point does not mean it must always be.
Why is it that people can not accept difference or change things that were once considered bad? Why is everyone so afraid of change? Things change, people change, cultures change, and like wise, WORDS CHANGE!
