An Outsiders Experience of Japan

My first experience reading about others experiences in
Japan, came from the exact source of “Quake Stories, American School in Japan,
My Tohoku Earthquake Experience” by McKenzie Miller.

I chose this
to write about because, this story is very detailed in every way. Also, I
discovered some interesting facts I had known not of before, such as the fact
that it were not uncommon for there to be low rated earthquakes in Japan.
However, obviously, the most recent earthquake had a large rating of 9.0.
Otherwise, I learned the reaction, feeling, and thought of the person writing.
It was very interesting to know the physical feeling of him, “I felt like a
doll, cruelly being tossed around”. Also, the reaction of him “Earthquakes
weren’t this big, I looked around in panic”. All in all, McKenzie Miller does a
good job of being thorough, but what struck me most was when at the end he
says, “This was hard for me, but I knew I was lucky. My family was all safe,
and my house was still intact. Sadly, that’s more than a lot of Japanese could
