People living their lives in misery
In The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcom X and Alex Haley, Malcolm experiences that people have the tendency to having money or being in a higher class then all the other people. Malcolm also sees that the black people is unwilling to accept their true apperance in life and doing them harm to themselves. Malcom also uses his relationship with this girl named Sophia to escape the racism.
I think The Autobiography of Malcolm X, by Malcom X and Alex Haley is interesting because there is so many problems going on which people can not even solve. People just want money and everything and to being a higher class. Why do people have to be so selfish and everything? Everyone should be equal and money is not everything in life. Also people are not looking at themselves as their own personal self.
A passage from pages 56 and 57 that seems important is: "I dont know which self defacing conk is greater shame the one you'll see on the heads of the black so called middle class and upper class who ouht to know better or the one you'll see on the heads of the poorest most downtrodden ignorant black men." I think this is important because we can see how ignorant the people are to be in the higher class and everything and wanting to be better than everyone else in the society and all they care about is the money. People all should just come to together and decide on one thing to be equal and everything.
Another part that I disliked was: "I wasnt even thinking about Laura when she came up to me in the drugstore and asked me to take her to the next Negro dance in Roseland." This is an example of something important in this book. It shows that people really had no respect for each other. People are just throwing the N word around like it is nothing. It is really bad to say the N word and it is really disrespectful. People should have some manners and instead of saying the N word they can say African Americans. People really dont care.
This section of The Autobiography of Malcolm X reminds me of something in the news. What happened was someone got rejected to go to a dnace and stuff and that guy who got rejected started going crazy because of this one girl that wouldnt go with him to a dance that he wanted. The guy started to go berserk and starting to try to kill everyone out there and even try to kill the girl for saying "NO". People need to learn how to control themselves and not over react to things.
What's probably going to happen next is that Malcolm believes that the people are ruining the society with all the pimping and gambling that is going on with a lot of the people. Malcolm says that is making the people's lives harder and also that the blacks are treated like objects and not people. Malcolm is a really helpful person and he shows people that pushed to their survival can form their own creative solutions to problems.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book because I want to find out more about what happens later on in the book and what is really going on with all the pimping and gambling stuff. I want to see how people are going to live their lives and how they are going to actually go through all this racism and trouble.
