Pesticides Possibly Causing ADHD and Autism

Discussion

Pesticides smother our food. By purchasing non-organic food you are saying that you are ok with consuming chemicals that are used to kill the bugs that might be eating that food you just ate. Why is organic food so much more expensive then non-organic food when its healthier for us? Instead of distributing 10 to 30 billion dollars a year subsidising farms that are producing food that is full of pesticides and chemicals why doesn’t the government use that money to subsidise the organic farms that are producing pesticide and chemical free food? The attitude of, “I’ve been eating pesticide covered food for my entire life, so there’s no point in switching over now,” is plain stupidity. The pesticide that is being used in California on strawberries has been found to cause neurological damage. There are new studies being done that are showing possibilities that the pesticides and herbicides used on non-organic foods could be a cause of ADHD and Autism.

Personally do you agree with eating foods containing pesticides? What if that becomes our only way to grow food? I guess my real question is what is a plausible alternative to foods grown with pesticides that has all the possible benefits of using pesticides?

In my personal opinion, I don't agree with consuming foods caked in pesticides. I don't think there will ever come a time where it is impossible to grow foods without pesticides. I'm not sure if there would be a way to produce a plant that can fight off bugs without being sprayed with a pesticide.

I like your post a lot, I have thought about this subject before and it could become a serious issue for our population in the future. Pestisides not only help crops grow better, but they also eliminate important things in the fields that could be healthy for our immune system to take in. Another growing problem related to food is how we cook what we put inside our bodies. Warming food up extracts a lot of nutrients out of food, and we ultimately consume less than half of what nutrients were there before.
