Pink Slime In Your Food
In recent weeks, there has started to be a lot of buzz about so called "pink slime" in ground beef. This slime is created by taking fat trimmings from a cow, and then heating it up to separate the fat from muscle and connective tissue. However, these trimmings can harbor pathogens such as E. coli, so it is treated with ammonium hydroxide. Then the slime is place in ground beef as a cheap way to get a filler for the meat. It has been found that over 70% of all ground beef has these trimmings in it. The effects of the ammonium hydroxide in the meat has not yet been studied, but there are many skeptics. Personally, I think this is completely unhealthy and unnatural, and is turning burgers into a very dangerous food.

G R O S S !
Dear Alex,
Your post "Pink Slime" definitively caught my eye. Even though it made me puke in my mouth real quick, lol. I cannot believe that, and I enjoy eating hamburgers. Just of this post, my interest of hamburgers have decreased. One sentence that you wrote that stood out to me was: "Then the slime is place in ground beef as a cheap way to get a filler for the meat. It has been found that over 70% of all ground beef has these trimmings in it." I cannot believe that this actually happens! Like this is seriously disgusting! Thank you for telling me about this! This was very good advice, now I will be very cautious to pick and choose the hamburgers I eat. Thanks for your posting. I look forward to v=seeing your new posts.
