Playing Santa
On Wednesday I was able to take part in delivering the many gifts our school was able to provide for the gift of the drummer program. This to me is the true spirit of Christmas. We were all able to take part in something that was bigger than ourselves, and it truly was an eye opening experience. Our school literally filled an entire bus full of gifts that would provide 39 families with a Christmas. Being a social-action student I was also responsible for organizing a freshman CP to collect gifts for a family. At first we had a hard time getting students to participate, but by the final collection day we had everyone bringing things in. We collected toy bikes, nike tennis shoes, winter coats, and more gifts than I could have imagined. Getting on the bus and seeing ever seat filled with bags full of gifts gave us all a huge feeling of accomplishment. It made me realize that this is what we should all be focusing on during Christmas time. Not finding the perfect gift or the biggest sale, but trying to help those who have nothing to begin with. We spend a vast majority of our childhood believing in Santa, well that Wednesday we got to play santa for once.

Dear Emma, Your experience
Dear Emma,
Your experience delivering the gifts must have been awesome- you're lucky that you got to see our school's generosity being put into action! I thought the topic of your post was really interesting. With the holidays coming up, most of the people around us are in the brighter moods and spirits, with the long break approaching and all the other excitements that come hand in hand with Christmas. So reading your post is a good reminder that we are really blessed and lucky to be celebrating with our food, friends, and family this holiday. I think it would have been really cool if you talked a bit more about the families/faces behind the Gift of the Drummer Program, because reading about this topic raises awareness for the less fortunate, and raising awareness can make a difference!
Thanks for your post,
Lexie
