Presidential Letter Response

Dear Bryan,
    I recently read and considered the ideas expressed in your letter, The Economic Burden of War, because of my concerns for the economy of the United States and those serving in the middle east.
    One particular sentence that stood out to me was when you said "The citizens of America would be more than happy to have their taxes decreased and would finally feel the excruciating weight removed from their overburdened shoulders,". I think this truly shows the struggles the American people are going through, and expresses the harsh affects that taxes have on all citizens. Those of us in our country are having to tighten their belts, and many of them do not know how much farther they can be pushed.
    Another sentence that stood out to me was when you said, "If our debt keeps increasing at the rate it currently is, I believe we will dig a hole so deep that there will be no possible way for us to be debt free,". I thought this really gets the point across about how urgent our situation truly is. If we are unable to alter our unruly spending habits, our country would face a time of extreme debt with seemingly no options.
    I agree with you on the issues of our economy. This country has quite a few thriving citizens, as well as many immersed in poverty. Those who have the most to spare should be those helping our economy the greatest. How is it fair to take more from the poor? The our struggling economy is not only digging a hole for our country, it is digging a grave. This country cannot flourish or lead with the weight of our debt on our shoulders.
