Procrastination
Procrastination, everyone does it and everyone hates it. Some people are huge procrastinators and others only do every once and a while but either way it's a problem among today's high school and college students. take for instance this post I am writing right now. I had the chance to write a post all week. Instead of writing it on monday or tuesday and just getting it done I waited until the very last day.
"Procrastination is a behavior which is characterized by the deferment of actions or tasks to a later time."
There are many different psychological causes of procrastination but they all revolve around the issues of anxiety and a low sense of self worth. Although many people believe that procrastination is connected to laziness it is really connected to anxiety. Procrastination is found to be predominant in the academic setting. in 1992 a study showed that 80% to 95% of college students engaged in procrastination and 75% called themselves procrastinators.
It's obvious that procrastination is problem in today's youth , but how do we solve this problem? Procrastination can lead to work that is not as good as it could have been, anxiety and stress. so if you are a big procrastinator try to find a way to get your work done early it could help relieve some of that stress that your feeling.

Dear Ross, I enjoyed reading
Dear Ross,
I enjoyed reading your post "Procrastination," because it's something I can relate to. I think procrastination is a huge problem and everybody needs to find a way to overcome it. I believe procrastination can be detrimental to people's academics.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is "Although many people believe that procrastination is connected to laziness it is really connected to anxiety. " I think this is 100% true because I every time I procrastinate it's not because I'm lazy, it's because I'm always anxious about something.
Another sentence that I agreed with was: "Procrastination can lead to work that is not as good as it could have been, anxiety and stress." This stood out for me because I can relate to it. I think procrastination has led me to a lot of stress and sometimes when I wait until the last minute to do something my work isn't as good as it could be had I spent more time on it.
Your post reminds me of something that happens to me everyday. One time I had to post 13 comments and 3 post on "Youth Voices" over the course of a month as part of a school assignment. But instead I decided to wait until the last day to do most of my comments and posts. This is one of the comments that's included in what I have to do and as of right now it doesn't looks like I'm going to be finished until it's night time. This is really stressful for me because this is going to take me the whole day to finish and right now I have a lot of anxiety in me.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because you chose to write about a topic that interest me so much. I think you can come up with more post that I can relate to. That way, it'll be easier for me to be able to comment on more posts.
Wow
Dear Ross,
I enjoyed reading your post "Procrastination," because it's something I can relate to. I struggle with procrastination everyday and it affects me tremendously because i leave all my work piled up and it stresses me out!
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is "There are many different psychological causes of procrastination but they all revolve around the issues of anxiety and a low sense of self worth. " I found this to be very interesting and shocking. I always thought procrastination dealt with laziness. I wonder how it connects to your self esteem.
Another sentence that I found interesting was: " in 1992 a study showed that 80% to 95% of college students engaged in procrastination and 75% called themselves procrastinators." This stood out for me because a lot more people are affected by procrastination than I thought. If only 75% people admitted it to be procrastination, I wonder what the other 25% said/ blamed it on.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because this topic obviously relates to a lot of people and it affects us everyday. I would also like to see you write about possible solutions of procrastination and what we can do to avoid it.
