I have just finished Proud Shoes by Pauli Murray. The book was centered around Murray's maternal grandparents. The book brings up topics of racism and the idea of mixed White and Black people being ridiculed for their background. It also revisits his great grandfather's life and everything that he's been through. Murray explains that there is pride that runs through his family, that is why at the end of the book, he mentions that because of his grandfather, he is able to "stand tall and in proud shoes".

I would recommend this book to everyone who is interested in he history of American life. I found myself very uninteresting. The book was pretty long and slow for me because the author didn't talk about things that really got my attention. I found it hard to read and keep up with because of the constant changing of the characters being focused on.
