Racism starting in the society
The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X and Alex Haley: I just started this book and things are getting really bad from the start already. Macolm had to experience racial prejudice from both the black and white people where racism was in the society. Malcom's father was a really nice person and he help black people to support themselves and return back to Africa for safety. Also Malcom's father treats him better than all his other son's because he has the lightest skin and Malcom sees and learns how the standards of racism was in his society.
I think The Autobiography of Malcolm X, by Malcolm X and Alex Haley is sad because Malcom X and his whole family and a lot of other people have to go through all this racial problems in the society during that period of time. I also think that it was not right that the father likes Malcom more because he has the lightest skin. I think that is really wrong because that would make him racist too because he is favoring over his sons and he shouldnt be doing that and I just think that is not the right thing to do.
A passage from pages #2 - #3 that seems important is: "I remember being suddenly snatched awake into the frigtening confusion of pistol shots and shouting and smoke and flames. My father shouted and shot at the two white men who had set the fire and were running away. " I think this is frightening because what Malcom is experiencing is his first time and he hears all this shouting and shooting and everything and I think he would be scared to hear all this. Also what was frightening is that he sees his dad shooting two white men running away. Why would his dad do that? Is his dad full of hate against the whites?
Another part that I disliked was: "I remember that we were outside in the night in our underwear crying and yelling our heads off. The white police and firemen came and stood around watching as the house bruned down to the ground." This is an example of something important in this book. It shows that it was hard living a life with all this racism and prejudice and people didnt even have any clothes to wear at tall and houses were burn down and people just looked and did nothing about it.
This section of The Autobiography of Malcolm X reminds me of something that happened to me. One time I remembered when I was reading this book and everyone was seperated because of their race and everything and no one had equality and everyone was killed for what their skin color was. I thought that was not right and everyone deserves to be equal, not to be killed or anything. Everyone was seperated and not allowed to talk to each other. So much people was filled with hate.
What's probably going to happen next is that Malcolm then experiences that people have the tendency to having money or being in a higher class then all the other people. Malcolm also sees that the black people is unwilling to accept their true apperance in life and doing them harm to themselves. Malcom also uses his relationship with this girl named Sophia to escape the racism.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of this book because I want to find out what is going to happen next and how bad the racism is in the society. Also why would people just want to have money and be in a higher class that everyone else as well as the blacks not accepting their apperance. What is wrong with thereself? People should always look upon themselves and others and never out themselves down.
