The Raven in Modern English

It was midnight, I’m tired and sleepy
Reading books to get my mind off Lenore
Almost falling asleep, I heard knocking on the door
Someone was at the door knocking
“There is a vistor at the door” I said “knocking on the door”

I remembered it was a December, cold and miserable
Suddenly I wished it was tomorrow already
Reading to get my mind off of Lenore
An angel from heaven named Lenore
Gone forever

The curtains blew out of nowhere
Spooked out, terror getting in my mind
Freaked out, heart beating like crazy, I’m hoping to myself
There is someone at my door
Someone at my door during midnight
That’s all I wanted to say

Tired of being scared I answered the door
sorry for being harsh
I was about to go to sleep and was disturbed
You came and knocked on my door
I opened the door and was sure it was you

I stood there dreaming
Dreaming dreams no one dared to
No one was at the door, frightened
Somebody whispered the word Lenore
I whispered back “Lenore?”
Silence and nothing more

This is a good modern style of Poe's The Raven, but I feel like you could have done a bit more "modernizing". Some of your words are the same as the one in the poem, but it's okay. You did well overall!

I agree with Anabelle!

You definitely understand the poem, and I wonder whether you can update some of the words and images for 2015!

Good Job.

You made the poem very easy to understand with your choice of words. you translated most of the lines well, and added a little of your own style. I could still see a little of the style that Poe had which was good.

Good Code Switch

I like how you were able to make the poem more understandable without switching the whole thing.
