Reflection on The Warmth of Other Suns

I am currently nearing the end of the wonderful, sweeping, yet gorgeously human book, The Warmth of Other Suns. It was released right when the Great Migration regained the national attention it thoroughly deserves, and it may even have been part of why this attention was drawn. It made me think, it made me laugh, it almost made me cry, it was shocking, it was pressing, it was beautiful. I was exposed to the barefaced insanity and cruelty of the Jim Crow South, and I learned about the amount of difficulty that they had to deal with in the North as well. I learned about the sacrifices that people had to make, and how, sometimes, that sacrifice was the ultimate one.
