Response to google reader
I'm learning more about multiple personality disorder right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: Is that people have two or more distinct personality or identities is called multiple personality disoreder? As I was reading in my Google Reader, this blog post caught my attention because it talks about what is dissociation. It helps me know more about different kinds of personality dissorder. And if a person have a two distinctive action, it doesn't mean that he/she must have multiple personality disorder. But if it is more serious, it may affect a person's thoughts, memories and feelings, then it is called Dissociation.
I chose a quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt which is saying that men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds.
I think this is very strong because it is true that people who have problem not matter on their daily life or personality. It is becasue they think they can't do it so they don't try to do so. However, it is just a block in their mind but not because of the fate. Similarly, people have issociative personality because they think they are afraid of something so they try to escape from the difficulty. As the writter list an example in the article, "During a traumatic experience, a person may dissociate the memory of the place and circumstances of the trauma from his ongoing memory, resulting in a temporary mental escape from the fear and pain of the trauma and, in some cases, a memory gap surrounding the experience. Because this process can produce changes in memory, people who frequently dissociate often find their senses of personal history and identity are affected. " This showed that a person have a dissociative personality is because of what they think in their minds.
