Revisiting Old Friends.
Unfortunately in all the business of senior year I have forsaken a pastime that I love very much; reading. This year I have been so focused on studying various scientific and psychological cases, economic reports, and detailed reviews of painting techniques, that I haven't had enough time to just sit down and read a book that I honestly want to.
Now that the year is beginning to wind down and I have a little time to breathe, I am determined to break that streak. As I tiptoed through the library, wondering which shelf would contain a short, enjoyable read, an old title caught my eye. As soon as I saw the faded blue binding of the first Series of Unfortunate Events book, I knew that it was time to revisit an old friend.
I have always been a fan of Lemony Snicket's simple, yet metaphorical writing. When I heard that his new book is to be released this coming October, I nearly jumped for joy. And as I sat down and read the entire first book within one sitting, I knew that I had made a wise decision to borrow both the first and second books from the library. I know there has been a lot of hype about thrilling books such as The Hunger Games, but for me, remembering a book that was momentarily forgotten is just as exhilarating.
