Rosa's Response
Yesterday Rosa came to our school to visit us, answer our questions and take back the books and it was really a awesome experience to see a survivor from the holocaust and get to talk to them and see how they feel or act. Its almost a once in a lifetime chance. All the 12th graders attended the conference during the 6th period because they were the ones who read the Rosa books and also watched the movie and had a idea of what was going on and who Rosa was. I was really exited that she came because i read a book and i met the author of it , i never met a book author before either.
“Yes I always think about it”
Hearing this quote made me realize that even though all these terrible things happened so long ago, the memory of it never fades and it always stays there embedded in your head and you always think about it and feel the pain of it as if it just happened yesterday. This is really sad and means that the survivors always suffer all they’re lives about it.
Another quote that stuck out to me from Rosa’s meeting was “I want to educate all the kids about the Holocaust”
Seeing this quote again, I see how she was shocked that a educated man working in the judicial system did not know what the holocaust was and she wanted to make sure that all high-school kids learn about what has happened and to never let the memory of the event go away and she wants to make sure that things like this never happen again. And I agree with this everyone should know about all the horrible things that happened so that history never repeats itself.
Another quote that surprised me was when she looked sad and said “ I hope you all never let something like this happen again” This really made me feel like even though everyone wishes that something like this never happens again , history is bound to repeat itself at one point no matter how hard we try to prevent it and she was also discussing how sad the revolutions in Libya are since the dictator attacks the young revolutionists and kills them and all they want to do really is just win they’re freedom. I really hope something like that never happens again like the holocaust but i have a feeling that something already is one the way , something greater than the holocaust ever was. A very frightful thought.
