This is a very good point to bring up. The environment has to be set up for the way you want your kid to turn out. This is obvious because most likely for example, if a kid is around stupid people most of his life then he is most likely to end up that way unless he makes a conscious decision not to let those kind of people effect his life. It really does depend on how you are raised. Your genes can somewhat be altered on the surface.
Someone might inherit a gene or genes that, for example, might make them more prone to risky behavior. But that probably doesn't mean they will necessarily end up being jet pilots or being into extreme sports. It probably depends on how they are raised.
