The Signing of a Legend
After a long wait, we finally have an answer as to where Peyton Manning will be playing next year. Today, Manning signed with the Denver Broncos(my favorite NFL team). A contract that with pay him 96 million dollars over the next five years. This was to some an odd move by the Broncos, who will now have a new starting quarterback for the third time dating back to the beginning of the last season. The year started off with Kyle Orton as the starting quarterback, however they turned to Tim Tebow when Orton struggled. Orton was then traded to the division rival, the Kansas City Chiefs. Now that they have officially signed Manning, Tebow will most likely be dealt to a different team. After a memory-filled season including Tebowmania and a trip to the playoffs, the Broncos will start over with a new face of the franchise. The idea to sign Peyton Manning was one that was very risky. He is coming off his fourth next surgery and has played in a game for over a year. All the teams that looked at him stated that he threw the ball well, but who knows how he will perform on gameday. The Broncos had the best rushing offense last season, so it will interesting to see how they spread out the snaps between throwing the ball and handing off to Willis McGahee (who is coming off one of his best years in the league). Another point to consider is the fact that the Broncos traded away their best receiver Brandon Lloyd last season, so we will have to see who Manning’s top target becomes.
