The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Last week, I started reading the first book in the series of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. It was somewhat of an interesting transition from the last book that I was reading, which took place during a time where Kings and Queens still existed in the world (Marie Antoinette in the 1700's), to a book that takes place in the current 21st Century. They are kind of alike in the sense that they both deal with teenage girls and the struggles that teenage girls go through that are apparent in any era. For example, finding someone to have a crush on, always having expectations, schooling, etc. It may seem kind of peculiar to compare Bridget, Tibby, Carmen, and Lena of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to Marie Antoinette, one of the Queens of France, but it is actually pretty interesting if you really break the books down and see that teenage girls will be teenage girls, no matter what century we live in.

Very Interesting Connection.
Dear Emily,
Thanks for posting about the book that you are reading now. Although that sort of romantic comedy drama sort of novel doesn't really appeal to me, I think that it was very interesting how you drew a parallel between the book that you are reading now and the book that you had been reading before to draw the conclusion that the behavior of teenage girls is similar if we are talking about the 16th century or present day. I think it was very interesting that you said " It may seem kind of peculiar to compare Bridget, Tibby, Carmen, and Lena of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to Marie Antoinette, one of the Queens of France, but it is actually pretty interesting if you really break the books down and see that teenage girls will be teenage girls, no matter what century we live in." Despite the difference in time period, there are parallels in all kind of human behavior. I look forward to seeing what you post about next and if you draw any new conclusions or find any new parallels.

Dear Emily,
I really enjoyed you post because it showed the comparison of two totally different books. From all the differences, such as the time era, you can still find many similarities between the teenagers. I find it really interesting how you were able to compare the two books and from what you read, I can tell both books were good reads. One sentence I liked from your response was, "It may seem kind of peculiar to compare Bridget, Tibby, Carmen, and Lena of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to Marie Antoinette, one of the Queens of France, but it is actually pretty interesting if you really break the books down and see that teenage girls will be teenage girls, no matter what century we live in." Anyways, thanks for writing Emily! I hope to read what you post next.
