The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Last week, I started reading the first book in the series of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. It was somewhat of an interesting transition from the last book that I was reading, which took place during a time where Kings and Queens still existed in the world (Marie Antoinette in the 1700's), to a book that takes place in the current 21st Century. They are kind of alike in the sense that they both deal with teenage girls and the struggles that teenage girls go through that are apparent in any era. For example, finding someone to have a crush on, always having expectations, schooling, etc. It may seem kind of peculiar to compare Bridget, Tibby, Carmen, and Lena of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to Marie Antoinette, one of the Queens of France, but it is actually pretty interesting if you really break the books down and see that teenage girls will be teenage girls, no matter what century we live in.
