Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman
The book "Skeleton Creek" by Patrick Carman is about a boy named Ryan and a girl named Sarah in their town. Strange things are happening in Skeleton Creek and Ryan and Sarah are trying to get to the heart of it. An accident leaves Ryan forbidden to see Sarah again. This mystery leaves Ryan writing everything in his journal and Sarah video taping everything she can. The story reveals the secret of the small town that the two live.
A good idea in the book is that an interesting idea presented in Skeleton Creek is that in the beginning of the book, Ryan describes this silhouette coming towards him and that it was an arm coming after him. Ryan described how he was then trapped by this figure, and that is spoke to him and then vanished. At the end he screamed and then backed away from whatever it was. After he screamed, he calmed down and he was very confused to what happened.
This idea presented in the text says a lot about the character Ryan. After the figure spoke to him, Ryan says to himself "had it been there at all?" This can tell you that his whole experience so far had made him not even know the difference between reality, and what was not real. This quote/idea was interesting because it showed some of the personal features of the main character.
