So What: Schizophrenia

The most important thing I learned about schizophrenia so far, or at least the one that applies most to me, is that drugs such as marijuana can trigger the onset of schizophrenia. I myself do not use marijuana, but I am aware of many people around me that do. It is scary to think that these people that I know could later end up coming down with schizophrenia. I think most people simply do not realize the risk that runs with smoking weed. Although it is a low risk, it is not one that I would take a chance with. From doing research, I have learned how bad schizophrenia is and the toll it takes on the lives of its adherents and those who love them, and I have realized that is not a risk I am willing to take. Also, I think other people believe that since they haven’t had any symptoms of schizophrenia yet, that they are immune to it. In reality, the genetic factors could already be in place, and all that it may take for schizophrenia to become prevalent would be an environmental factor, such as using marijuana.

Hey Max,

Your research topic is quite interesting. I feel like many people do not know what Mary Jane's side effects are. They probably think it hurts your lungs a bit or makes you live a shorter life, but I bet a lot of cats do not know that it can lead to this. When they teach about smoking weed in middle school, they should teach kids this!

Hope you have a great day :)

This is really interesting! I had never heard about that side effect before. In health class they usually just say that it hurts your lungs and stuff like that. I think this should be told to more of the public so that they can be fully educated on the subject if they decide to smoke weed.

Max,
How bad is the schizophrenia people are developing after smoking marijuana? Is it like a major case where they are seeing ghosts and zombies walking around or is it more minor?

Max,
This is a really interesting topic. I didn't know that marijuana could cause schizophrenia. You don't really think about it I guess. What in the marijuana causes a likelihood to develop schizophrenia? Good luck with the rest of your research!

I learned something new

Max this is really quite interesting to learn, especially in today's day and age where marijuana is very rampant. It is also quite scary to think that such a terrible mental ilness can be caused by pot. I do think that you should do some more research into this subject and find out what other drugs can cause schizophrenia, along with how much would one have to smoke to be at risk. These are just a few questions that i think would help you in your research. Keep up the good work and as always have nice day.
