Soccer, dangerous sport or not?
Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been soccer and how it may or may not be a dangerous sport. I remember watching a news reporter talking about it, but I was still confused and didn’t understand the meaning of it. Some people say that it is a dangerous sport because others only care about winning so they think the right way to win a game is by being aggressive and possibly hurting other teammates. From what I heard soccer can be a dangerous sport because a lot of players think the right way to win a game is by hurting others. That’s what I heard it may or may not be true.
One thing I know for sure about soccer is that it’s a competitive sport and many players would do what ever it takes just for that one win.
I’ve studied my share of sports and it says soccer is a sport that many people enjoy but there are times when things can get from good to bad. I believe the whole point about playing soccer is making sportsmanship with others, and just enjoying yourself on the field and making sure each game is a game to remember. I’m a soccer player myself, sure I get upset when I lose a game but then I think to myself tomorrow's a new day. Soccer was important in the past because the rules back then were much different then the rules know in the present. So improvements over the years have changed soccer to be more safer and more exciting.
I chose to do some background information on my topic to get a brief message about soccer. As I searched for blogs and articles on Google, I came across this one article http://www.livestrong.com/article/466179-dangers-of-soccer/ this article provided a lot of information and opinions about soccer. Some people felt that soccer is an intense sport and having a good health routine can help you out whenever you plan on playing soccer. “Soccer provides intense exercise, but like other intense sports soccer is not without its dangers” This statement didn’t really surprise me that much because I know that soccer is a long game and running around back and forth can get tiring. So it's important for players to be healthy and fit to not get tired in playing the sport.
In another article www.the-top-tens.com/items/soccer-16564.asp there was this one statment that made me nod my head in agreement with the writer. It was:” If you compare the injuries on soccer to those of other sports, it definitely deserves to be higher on the list” This is true because I have seen many injuries happen when people play soccer, and in other sports it’s not likely to happen.
All of this makes me think that soccer can be a dangerous sport, and also not be a dangerous sport. But it also depends on one’s opinion and how they see the sport.
Doing all this research has helped me get a better understanding on my topic, and I’m hoping to remember this because it’s always useful whenever I’m playing on the field.

Dear , illken I really
Dear , illken
I really found your article interesting to read. I believe soccer, or “futbol” in other countries; is dangerous. However throughout history dangerous sports are the most interesting and exciting. I for one love soccer. I have gotten many injures while playing this sport and I believe by me getting hurt gets me even more motivated to beat the opposing team.
I do agree with your statement that reads “One Thing I know For sure bout soccer is that it’s a competitive sport and many of the players would be willing to do anything to kick a goal. I have seen layers slide in front of other players, getting kicked in the face just to gain the ball for their team. That's dedication.
Thanks For the post. Hope you write again.
fellow soccer player
i have played on a competitive soccer team for five years and for the first four years I was the center defender but now I'm my team's striker. when i played as a defender i was the biggest boy on my team not the tallest and not the roundest but the bigger build. i always got hurt during the game the least would be a small scratch on my knees and the worst was a broken bone when i got pushed from behind. I feel soccer is a dangerous sport when the referees are not in control of the game. -kelton
No
No, soccer is not a dangerous sport, I've played soccer all my life and never been injured.
Dear Kenny.Thank you so much
Dear Kenny.
Thank you so much for your post Soccer, Dangerous Sport or Not?
I found this post so interesting because I play soccer and I love soccer so much it is one of my favorite sports. I believe soccer is a very competitive and dangerous sport. It is so many things that can go wrong in a soccer game that may change someone forever.
For example I injured my knee really bad about 3 years ago playing soccer and I was sad. I stopped playing for about two years and I just took it a little easy. Then I got in high school and had a real gym class and I began to be active again which sometimes bothered my knee but not too much. I then again injured the same knee while fencing my gym teacher, this injury what just as bad as the first one. I was then again relaxing and taking it easy because my doctor said I should. Then just recently I hurt my knee playing soccer again and I feel like this last injury has really determined that I may have to just stop playing soccer or stop playing in games. Soccer is a dangerous sport depending on who you are playing with.
One thing you said that I agree with was: “Others only care about winning so they think the right way to win a game is by being aggressive and possibly hurting other teammates.” I think this is true because when people play soccer (seriously) they play to win. Although this may be something they love and enjoying doing they also of want to win. Often if winning means the players have to be a little aggressive and have no regards of hurting other players then they will do it. I personally try to take in consideration though that getting kicked in the shin or getting elbowed or hit in the face with a ball hurts.
Another thing you said that was intrigued by was: “I’m a soccer player myself, sure I get upset when I lose a game but then I think to myself tomorrow's a new day.” I am happy that you are able to say you get upset because I know I do as well. Of course we all want to win but sometimes that just doesn’t happen and we have to deal with that. And like you said tomorrow’s another day. I also liked that you are honest you don’t say that you never get upset.
Thank You so much for your post Kenny I enjoyed it so much. I am looking forward to reading more of your post.
Keep on kicking ;)
