in the story, "The Spirit of Japan"(http://quakestories.wikispaces.com/American+School+in+Japan), Marriane Riley explins the diference that she sees in Japanese people after the earthquake, and also the country it'self. How markets only have a fixed amount of quantity for all the people and how the essentials are all gone. her short story made me realize something about this dissaster. The Japanese people were faced with a very big problem. This bbig problem was toppled over them without any choice. but no amount anything, including help from other nations would help heal the past. The japanese people are sad. With this earthquake, aftershpcks and tsunami, they have lost almost all that could be lost. And this reaction is not only in the epicenter. It is like a plauge, goin in chain destroying people. She also tlks about this term that is tought to all japanese people and that they never forget. Gaman. This term is wht we see all japanese people doing. They have to deal with their situation as best as they can. They might feel so many things like pain, sadness and anger, but they will never show. They don't burden people with their problems, so their situation becomes worse with no one to be able to tell your problems to it all build inside of you. So this girl above all helped me learn, for some reason, that help must be given to those who you know who need it. becuse even if they seem like they don't, helping people out should never be an extra weight on your back, and you can be assured that they WILL apreciate it.
