Stopping Kony

I’m sure many of you have recently seen the 30 minute film on YouTube titled “Kony 2012.” The film, made by one of the original creators of the foundation called Invisible Children, informs us more about what Joseph Kony does. He kidnaps children from their beds at night and forces them to become child soldiers. He makes the boys kill their parents and the girls become sex slaves.

I think this issue stands out to the younger generation, the teens of today, because of how relatable it is to this generation. Many of the kidnapped kids are our age and the film aims to target younger people through this idea. But the music and the language they use interest mostly teenagers.

The film tells us how it is up to us to change what Joseph Kony is doing by letting the officials of this country know that we really care. They have sent military there to try and capture Kony, but will bring them back if they don’t see a need to be there. We must let the government know how we feel about this issue.

I encourage anyone who hasn’t watched this film to watch it as soon as possible. It is up to us to help make a difference. Or visit http://www.invisiblechildren.com/ for more information.
