Street Signs with Deeper Meanings
I am exploring street signs. I am interested in this because they aren't the most interesting things but the photographer can make the picture interesting so it is a challenge.

I took the first photograph, and you can see a sign that says "Do Not Enter". I know that the sign isn't usually green but with the help of Photoshop I was able to adjust the color. My interpretation of this photograph is that this sign tells about the street or building behind it because it is off limits.
It has been said that one image is worth a thousand words. This could be true about this photograph because it tells you an important rule but in a different color. It reflects my theme in that I want to take pictures of street signs that tell information and may have deeper meanings.
One thing that I know about street signs is that they are everywhere. One thing that I wonder about is how many people pay attention to them and how would life be different without them. This makes me think of why it is important for me to take pictures of them and show the world what street signs do for us.

The second image was created by aspendjian and I found it at http://www.flickr.com/photos/42621202@N05/3983766430/ . In this image, I see signs that tell me where this photo was taken and I can tell it was taken in the evening. I know that because the background is dark but not dark enough to be considered night time. My interpretation of this image is that the photo can tell you a lot about where this is in NYC.
The second image relates to my photograph because it is a similar idea. As I look at this and other images, my next image will be more striking because I plan to incorporate a better background in my photo. If I were to look up some information about street signs, I would like to know more about all the different kinds in NYC and all over the world.
Since you are reading this post, I would like to ask you "Have you ever wondered what a street sign meant?"

Hey. I really like your
Hey. I really like your concept of photography of street signs. Your topic really makes me wonder how life would be different if there were no street signs. It would seem life would be much more chaotic and things definitely would not go in a positive direction. I like the way you edited the "do not enter" sign because the green color versus the original red color really brings out an opposite message because green usually signifies go, versus stop. At the same time, though, the edit seems natural and like it belongs even though it gives an opposite message from what the sign is for.
That's really cool how you
That's really cool how you changed the color of the street sign, because by changing the color it almost makes the sign seem less urgent. Since I am used to green signs not having the same meaning as red ones, the change of color seems to give the sign a different meaning.
So why did you make the sign
So why did you make the sign green? It seems to me that red is generally associated with cautionary meaning anyway.

Your post, "Street Signs
Your post, "Street Signs with Deeper Meanings," caught my attention because you talk about any interesting concept. Most people would think of street signs as nothing more than guides. Your post made me think about the purpose of the signs and how different it would be without them.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: "One thing I wonder about is how many people pay attention to them and how would life be different without them." This makes me think about all the traffic issues and dangers could occur just by removing street signs.
Another sentence that interested me was: "My interpretation of this image is that the photo can tell you a lot about where it is in NYC." This stood our for me because it shows by observing images more deeply, you can determine many things about it including the setting.
Your post makes me wonder about the importance of street signs. Many people don't realize the importance of street signs because they can be seen everywhere and are part of our daily lives. However, when such a basic thing is removed from our lives, how will we be affected?
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because I like reading about how you find deeper meaning in such simple things. I have wondered what a street sign meant because some of them use vague symbols, unlike a "Stop" sign.
