Chapters 5 to 9 was  very interesting. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston, a lot of events took place. From her thoughts upon being an independent women to running off with a guy that does not live to the end of the book. Not only he doesn’t make it too his death bed, but she already went through the rest, but she meets another man.

When she found this new man she thought all her troubles will go away , but it already did when her second husband died. This new man is named, Tea Cake, but his real name is Vergible Wood. He is a tall young man and he was also likes Janie. Since these feelings exisit we can say that the next few chapters is her new life opening up with an new man, but it will only bring her more misery and revelation.

"Janie awoke next morning by feeling Tea Cake almost kissing her breath away. Holding her and caressing her as if he feared she might escape his gasp and fly away. Then he must dress hurriedly and get to his job on time. He wouldn't let her get him any breakfast at asll. He wanted her to get her rest. He made her stay where she was. In her heart she wanted to get his breakfast for him. But she stayed in bed long after he was gone"

At this point she feels the need to treat him well and cherish him for the rest of her life because she is the best thing that happen to her.  Being that their relationship is so laid back she thought it would be okay to let one morning go and relax. Even though she thought that way that is not how he wanted and again giving control to the man.

And from the end of chapter 9, Janie sure seem pleased with her new life. A new start on her dream that she told us in the beginning. Now that she can live a better life with no fear of bad things happening it is what drives her to live on.
