Their Eyes Are Watching God ONE
There are many differences between men and women. First of all, the physical appearance is different, but more importantly, women and men both have different characteristics which stand out for both. Women tend to be sensitive, relying on feelings, when men are more proud and reckless, etc. Besides physical attributes, emotions and feelings differ amongst men and women.
Zora Neale Hurston thinks that men take advantage of women. Women do not get to have things her way, and more. This is from a woman's point of view, so obviously there has to be some bias on her side of the topic. Women, according to her, do not have it well compared to men. They seem to be ruled and such, but I feel that this is not so.
I disagree with Zora Neale Hurtson, as I am a male, so I will have some biased opinions. Also, I do not feel that women have a disadvantage in most civilized societies. This book takes place in America, and in the past, where women did have less power. Currently, we are treated equally, and I think that women who find that they are at a disadvantage want too much.
"Janie's first dream was dead, so she became a woman." I feel that this sentence did not make sense to me. Of course there is a meaning behind it, but I disagree with this meaning. Because Janie was disappointed at something, because she was at a disadvantage, she became a woman? I do not agree with this sentence, and it upsets me. If this was the usual woman's conception back in those days, then fine. However, if people believe this sentence is correct currently, they are wrong.
