Recently
in English class, I have finished reading Chapter 5, in the book Their
Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurtson. After reading this
chapter, I have noticed that Joe and Janie builds a relationship with
each other. In this chapter, Jody becomes Mayor of Eatonville. Jody
plans on both repairing and advancing things in the town Eatonville.

During
Jody’s inauguration Janie is asked to give a speech, but she is then
turned down because Jody stated that wives should have no involvement in
the matter of his inauguration. Janie begins to feel very upset, but
she keeps her anger to herself.

I
think that because this has happened in the way that it did Janie is
going to see Jody as a different person. Janie might feel as if Jody has
no respect for her. Janie feels as if women or even wives should be
able to participate and have a saying in most things men do.
